Coggins International Granted Course Articulation by Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC)

Atlanta, GA - January 29, 2014 – Coggins International today announced that the Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) has granted course articulation for Coggins International's DLA Energy and CompTIA Security+, Network+ and A+ courses. These courses were evaluated and recommended for college credit by the American Council on Education's College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT®) in 2013. FTCC has since weighed the learning outcomes and course requirements of Coggins International's courses against their own and determined that they are in line with many of their degree programs.

Course articulation is the process of comparing the content of courses that are transferred between postsecondary institutions such as Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions, colleges and universities. This is often done on an ad hoc basis when a student actually wishes to transfer or apply earned credit, but it may also be done with formal and verbal articulation agreements, such as the one between Coggins International and FTCC.

Coggins International's training program is dedicated to helping students take their education to a higher degree. We believe students deserve a lot of credit for the time they've invested and the skills and knowledge they've acquired and that includes college credit, said Jula Jane, President and Chief Executive Officer. Course articulation is a great way to give back to our students, as it assures the courses they complete will not have to be repeated at the institution to which they are transferring or currently attending.

Coggins International trains approximately 1,000 students per year, and with more than 2,000 colleges and universities that consider ACE credit recommendations for corporate and military training as transfer to degree programs, it became apparent that an internal task force was needed to establish course articulation. Wayne Hooper, Director of Training, and Matt Hobbs, CompTIA Training Manager, are heading up this effort and are working diligently, in cooperation with ACE's College and University Partnerships office, to establish course articulation with the institutions that are most aligned with Coggins International's training program and philosophies.

It's really great to align with FTCC as they have the same passion for ensuring military service members receive full credit for their work experience and formal training. Based near Fort Bragg, home of the U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations Forces Command, FTCC's work with the Special Operations Community is an excellent example of FTCC providing a degree path for the highly specialized military individuals who go the extra distance for our country. I am looking forward to a very long relationship with FTCC and working with them to ensure the soldiers, sailors and airmen who attend DLA Energy training at Coggins International obtain every possible opportunity to further their educational goals, said Wayne Hooper, Director of Training.
